The First Post (Cue dramatic drum roll)

Ta da! O.K. Well, I first have to ask, who the hell thought of the word "blog"? I mean, it sounds like an onomatopoetic word that zombies groan as they lurch at you. I mean you could have called a blog a widget or a unicorn and obtain the same effect. Or, by using my patented reasoning, "Urrg".

So this is my first blog post. And hopefully it won't be my last. I want to share my views with the world. Short of the world, a small, devoted group of followers would work, but let us aim low at first. So I really did start this blog as some way to perhaps feel a shred less insignificance than I do. Not that I devalue myself, it is just that it feels as if I am just another guy watching "The Office" on Thursday nights. Plus, I do think I have some worldly insight I believe can impart to the rest of civilization, and apparently the best way to do this without being rich and/or famous is to start a blog. So here I am.

I am guessing that all 10 of the people who will probably read this are wondering, who am I? Who is Sam Croarkin? Is he an overweight guy caught in the throes of life? Well, if that is your guess, well damn, you should apply for Miss Cleo's job cause you just read my mind. But, I am not exactly caught in the throes of life. In fact, right now ain't too shabby. I am only 18 and I am still living with my parents. I do plan on attending UNR (which for the Nevada-challenged is the University of Nevada, Reno) for four years of my future life. I think that introduction will suffice for now. I am sure that as I blog more, people will learn more about me. My personal life will become an inane side-story featured in any one of the television's many shows which will probably end Deus Ex Machina.

Now I do not put myself down, as a 4th grade conflict manager might say. I simply calls 'em as I sees 'em. I do not mean to devalue myself, but let us face the truth: Many people aren't going to be much. For every success in life, there is a failure. I am simply doing my best to make sure that if I fall, it will not be a painful impact.

O.K. So what exactly do I have in my metaphorical "hat of wonders"? Well, truth be told, I do not even know what will go on my blog. I mean look at the title. It is pretty general. I mean, it is like reaching in to a mystery bag and feeling that slimy crap that no one wants and then pulling out a hundred dollar bill... Yeah I don't get that analogy either. But as for my interests, I do enjoy reading. This ranges from science fictional books to sociological books, from logical reasoning to computer repair, I love it all. I take that back. I do not enjoy Westerns or Romance novels. Phew, I almost lost it there.

After reading, I enjoy television of a "smart" nature. (If you could call any T.V. smart) I also enjoy my share of video games. In case you didn't read above, I am still 18. I am still young and have yet to realize the great pressures and pains life will dump on me when I do not expect it. Get off my back. Just kidding. But my blog is open to just about anything. However, I must put out this disclaimer: I will not talk about some things on my blog. Yes, certain subjects I will ignore since I am aiming for something that helps to enlighten rather than to, well, kill brain cells. My list of subjects that will not be blogged about: Celebrities, unless I am making fun of them or pointing out the faults behind them; Western or Romance novels; How "cool" anything is; Any frivolous item which would serve to do nothing but to make you less logical in your approach to life. (This list may grow larger at any time I choose. In can be reduced, but I wouldn't hold your breath.) Note that the last item does not include entertainment such as "Jackass" or "Family Guy". These shows are great for exactly that. I am talking about shows that reinforce ideas which I believe are counterproductive to an intelligent society i.e. "The 700 Club" or anything which may promote one-sided ideologies or values which are consumed on a massive level and are taken for face value. This can be anything. Even if it is not on the internet or T.V. It is a sad day when I have to say what I just said but perhaps with some of my home made "brain soup", I could contribute just a little bit to fixing that problem.

Wow. For the first post to a blog, that is something, isn't it? Quite a large portion of verbal chicken to chew on if I do say so myself. As for comments, I allow registered members to say whatever they want under one, single, condition: What you say you have to believe in to the point that you are not afraid to say it to the world and you are ready to defend yourself and your idea in the face of an ideological assault. I do not want to sound harsh, but for all those cowards that go on to sites like "Sucksnet.com" or "Sucksage.com" or "SucksGlobal.com". I am all in favor of venting yourself and expressing what you truly, but some of those people are just freaking sick in the head. And I do not know who Max Powers is, but if he could take down the whole line of Sucks websites, alone no less, he is certainly a hero in my book. Once again, I have no idea who he is. For all I know he could be some deranged lunatic, but if he could pull down such websites and take a place for such idiotic and social regression down, he is awesome in my book.

Look at that. I am finished with this blog and I have already defined what kind of character I am. I am just hoping that maybe my blog could go out and help somebody or brighten someone's day. But I really should end this post here. I am sure that the people (you) are tired of hearing me talk, so to speak, metaphorically.
